NAWANSHAHR: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest the next assembly poll in Punjab with a ‘proper face’ of CM candidate, whose name will be announced well before the polls. This was stated by party state general secretary Gagandeep Singh Chadha while talking to media persons today at Banga, 14 km from here. Party’s failure to project a CM face during the last assembly poll was one of the reasons for its defeat in Punjab.

Referring to the constitution of district units upto the block level, he said the same would be announced within the next two weeks. To a question over his observation that the party's candidates for the assembly poll will be chosen from the public, he said his party would not hesitate to induct persons with good image from other parties before the poll. “Anyone desirous of doing good for the state and fulfilling party’s criteria will be welcome, ” he said, adding past mistakes would not be repeated. He accused BJP of again indulging in petty politics of religion and caste in the state and said that as the party (BJP) was facing massive heat in the state in the form of farmers’ agitation, it was indulging in such diversionary tactics like taking out an Insaaf Yatra or some similar other exercise. “The party has indulged in similar exercises in the country in the past too whenever it faced people’s wrath, be it the demonetisation or implementation of GST regime, ” he said. Earlier, accompanied by newly appointed district president Shiv Karan Singh Chechi and general secretary Manohar Lal Gaba and other volunteers, Chadha visited Khatkar Kalan to pay obeisance to the martyrs.
