PUNJAB NEWSLINE | December 01, 2020 04:40 PM

CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Ropar Assembly Constituency Amarjit Singh Sandoa, who had defected to Congress Party due to certain unfounded misgivings, has returned to the party fold, unconditionally. "I tender my sincere apologies to the party high command and state leadership, who were devastated by my decision to quit the AAP. I undertake to work for the party like a tireless volunteer without any ambition for party post of position", Sandoa declared on social media platform.

Sharing his  thoughts over switching sides to the Congress Party here on Tuesday, Amarjit Singh Sandoa said "Switching sides to  Congress had been the biggest blunder of my life and I am ashamed of the decision, which seems to have been taken a in a tearing hurry".

Sandoa said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had done nothing for the people of Punjab, adding that all sections were bearing the brunt of his anti-people stance. The Ropar legislator said that Captain before assuming power in 2017, had pedalled promises, like crushing drug mafia within weeks, 'ghar-ghar-naukri', complete loan waiver to the farmers among a host of others, which have remained unfulfilled.

Amarjit Sandoa said that the Captain- Modi duo had played a cruel joke on the farmers by enacting three contentious agriculture marketing laws, which the farmers sensed were detrimental to their survival and sustenance, following which they chose to fight back the proposed laws by taking to road route.

He said that while the Modi-Captain-Khattar government were resorting to draconian measures to derail the ongoing agitations of the farmers, the AAP government in Delhi led by Arvind Kejriwal, was holding hands of the farmers, currently fighting for repeal of the controversial laws. The Delhi government had put in place all facilities, including board and lodging, medicines, clean drinking water, and makeshift lavatories in the capital city. Sandoa said that the move had brought the anti-farmrer face of both Modi and  Captain.

Lauding the role of the Aam Aadmi Party under the inspiring leadership of Delhi chief minister and national convener Arvind Kejriwal, who had played a significant role in the ongoing struggle of the farmers, which prompted me to return to the party fold, adding "It is a sweet homecoming for me to return to my parent party", Sandoa said in a choked voice. The AAP MLA further said "The vision and a new genre politics of 'work' propounded by Arvind Kejriwal's astute leadership inspired me to return to my parent party and I take a solemn vow to work for its inclusive growth"

Expressing his regrets for the decision to quit the party, Sandoa said "The decision to return to the party fold is the decision of my conscience and has not been taken under duress. I shall continue to abide by the policies and programmes of the party and work in tandem with the state and central leadership. I tender my sincere apologies to those who were left devastated by my decision to quit the party"
