CHANDIGARH: Protesting over the decision of Captain Amarinder Singh government to increase the probation period of the government teachers from three years to four years, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs staged a walk-out from the assembly during the ongoing budget session on Tuesday.

Slamming Captain Amarinder-led state government on the issue, the AAP MLAs condemned the act of the government. They said that the Captain government had been betraying the dreams and aspirations of Punjab's government teachers from the day they took over the reins of power.

The MLAs said that the Congress government had increased the probation period from two years to three years and now, in this budget session, they are increasing the probation period from three years to four years. The AAP MLAs further said that thousands of teachers had been protesting for getting a tenure and regularisation, but the Captain government had never fulfilled their demands. "Today, in the session, the Captain government stabbed the final knife into the backs of the government teachers by increasing their probation to four years, " they added.
