A large number of devotees paid obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib on the occasion of the first Prakash Purb

AMRITSAR: The first Parkash Utsav of Guru Granth Sahib was celebrated with great enthusiasm here today and a religious Nagar kirtan procession led by panj pyaras was organized on the occasion of first Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Granth Sahib which was Started from Gurdwara Ram Sar Sahib and after parading in the main thoroufare it was ended at Akal Takht.

A large number of devotees paid obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Gurdwara Sri Ramsar Sahib today. The devotees attended the Gurmat celebrations organized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and enjoyed the Gurbani Kirtan.

After the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Sri Ramsar Sahib, a Nagar Kirtan was organized as per Sikh tradition till Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. Under the umbrella of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and led by the Panj Pyares, at the time of departure of this Nagar Kirtan, the head Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, President of Shiromani Committee Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj honored the Panj Pyares, Nishanchi and Nagarchi Singhs by giving them Siropas. A large number of Panthic personalities and Sangat were present on the occasion.

The jaloo (an exhibition of traditional Sikh jewelry was organized at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib ; Baba Atal Sahib and Akal Takht.

It may be mentioned that after completing holy bir of. Guru Granth Sahib was brought to Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib in 1604 by Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji and Baba Budha ji was appointed first Head Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib.Sri Guru Arjan Dev had asked Baba Budha ji "kholo granth deo awaja sure sab. The entire Golden Temple complex was decorated with special flowers..The jaloo( an exhibition was organized at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Akal Takht and gurdwara Baba Atal Sahib.

On this occasion, Giani Raghbir Singh congratulated the Sangat on the first Parkash Purb and said that the Bani of Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the basis of the life of a Sikh. It is the duty of every Sikh to live his life by following the path shown by the holy Gurbani.

He inspired the Sangat to live their lives according to the Gurmat by incorporating the holy Gurbani of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji into their lives.

SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, who arrived to join the Nagar Kirtan, congratulated the Sangat on the first Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and appealed to make following Gurmat a part of life.

He said that Gurbani shows the path of life to man and is an important path to make the life of every living being comfortable. The SGPC President inspired the Sangat to join the Gurbani Nitnem and become the bearer of the Khande Baate Di Pahul.

During the Nagar Kirtan, Sikh youth performed Gatka and kirtani Jathas expressed their devotion by singing Shabad. Meanwhile, langars of various delicacies were also set up by the devotees along the way.
