AMRITSAR: A delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee will meet Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, the head of Damdami Taksal, on June 2, with the aim of peacefully celebrating the Ghallughara day to be held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on June 6, on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the June 1984 Ghallughara massacre.

This delegation will meet Baba Harnam Singh, led by Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

In a press statement issued from the headquarters of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the purpose of the meeting with the head of Damdami Taksal is to strengthen Panthic unity and prevent any kind of conflict during the event.

He said that the June 1984 massacre is associated with the sentiments of the Sikh community and on this occasion, every year the Sikh community commemorates the invaluable sacrifices of the Sikhs who were martyred during the military attack on Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib by holding a martyrdom ceremony.

He said that the nation can never forget the sacrifices of the hundreds of innocent devotees who were celebrating the martyrdom of the fifth Guru during this massacre and the then head of Damdami Taksal, Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale.

Advocate Dhami said that it is the common responsibility of everyone to celebrate this day with a sincere approach. To celebrate the martyrdom event peacefully, everyone will have to take a step forward and give priority to national interests.

Advocate Dhami said that as the chief servant of the Sikh organization Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, he is certainly worried about the current situation, but he is also fully hopeful that a meaningful solution will be found.

The SGPC President appealed to the entire nation that if our national priorities are guided by the advancement of the nation with wisdom and understanding, then no one can stop the rise of Sikhism in the world.
