PHAGWARA: In a comprehensive review of ongoing civic infrastructure works, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal conducted a field visit to Phagwara on Wednesday to assess the progress of development projects and evaluate the city's preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season.
Accompanied by Mayor Rampal Uppal, ADC-cum-Commissioner Dr. Akshita Gupta, SDM Jashanjit Singh and senior officials from various departments, the Deputy Commissioner inspected key sites including the underpass project near the Bus Stand, ongoing road repairs, drainage upgrades, and sanitation operations.
Addressing the challenges posed by the rainy season, DC Panchal emphasized the importance of timely desilting of drains, efficient solid waste management, and inter-departmental coordination to prevent urban flooding and ensure public safety. He directed officials to expedite all pending works and ensure strict adherence to quality and timeline parameters.
“Effective groundwork before the onset of the monsoon is critical. Every department must remain vigilant and proactive in addressing public grievances and maintaining essential services, ” Panchal stated during the visit.
Mayor Uppal assured full support from the Municipal Corporation, highlighting initiatives already underway at the local level to enhance civic amenities and maintain city cleanliness.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner also interacted with residents to gather feedback and understand on-ground issues. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to transparent governance, efficient service delivery, and infrastructure development in line with public expectations.
