417th Parkash utsav of Sri Guru Granth Sahib celebrated with great enthusiasm

AMRITSAR: The 417th first Parkash utsav of Guru Granth Sahib was celebrated with great enthusiasm here on Tuesday. Thousands of devotees took holy dip in sacred sarovar of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib .

The Nagar Kirtan was taken out from Gurdwara Ram Sar Sahib after the bhog ceremony of Akhand Path. Giani Jagtar Singh head granthi Golden Temple taken Hukamnama ( mukh waak) from Guru Granth Sahib.

The Nagar Kirtan which was led by Panj piaras (five beloved) after parading in the main bazaars; it was ended at Akal Takht Sahib.
Several kirtani jathas , gatka parties , school children and brass band participated in the Nagar kirtan.
The devotees were reciting shabad of gurbani like "baani Guru , Guru hai baani vich baani amrit saare......" and ho rahi hai tuhaadi jai jaikaar".

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Bibi Jagir Kaur and all senior functionaries of SGPC joined the nagar kirtan
Bibi Jagir Kaur congratulated to sangat ( devotees) on the occasion.

Devotees have organised langars on entire route of nagar Kirtan. The entire Golden Temple complex was tastefully decorated with colourful flowers

A gurmat samagam was held at Gurdwara Manji Sahib in which Several raagi dhaadis and preachers recited the gurbani Kirtan .
The Jaloo (an exhibition of ancient traditional Sikh jewellery was organized at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Akal Takht and Gurdwara Baba Atal Sahib.

Jagir Kaur, President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has congratulated the sangats of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji on the first Prakash Purab. She

The holy "bir" of Guru Granth Sahib was brought to Sri Harmandir Sahib by 5th Guru Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji in 1604 and Baba Budha ji was appointed as Head Granth Sahib. Guru Arjan Dev had directed Baba budha ji "kholo granth sune sab Panth." Baba budha ji opened holy Granth Sahib had taken Mukh waak . First hukamnama was came "santa ke karaj aap khaloya ...

Later Guru Gobind Singh Ji adds gurbani of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji and then in 1708, Adi Granth became Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Eternal Guru of Sikhs as was declared by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

The text consists of 1, 430 angs (pages) and 5, 894 śabads (line compositions), which are poetically rendered and set to a rhythmic ancient north Indian classical form of music.The bulk of the scripture is divided into 31 main raags with each Granth rāga subdivided according to length and author. The hymns in the scripture are arranged primarily by the rāgas in which they are read.
