The admission in this newly built Medical College has already been started with around 100 students are expected to get enrolled for MBBS. Every year 100 doctors will be graduated from this Medical College that would help in a great way to meet the shortage of doctors in Punjab, he said.

Sidhu said, ” While as Health Minster of Punjab I had made many doctors’ appointments but still there were grave shortage of doctors in Punjab. This Medical College would help to fill the shortage of trained doctors in a great way.”

Talking about the efforts to set up the Medical College in Mohali, Sidhu said that this alone Medical College was approved to Punjab at Mohali in 2013 due to the efforts of than Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ambika Soni. Ironically Punjab had a government of opposition at that time and it cold shouldered the project fearing that its credit could go to UPA’s central government.

“In 2017 after the formation of the Congress government at Punjab I personally took the initiatives on the Medical College. All formalities were completed and three villages had allotted their panchayati land for the construction of Medical College, ”

Sidhu said that my dream is to make Mohali a medical education hub. A new Nursing College in Mohali is already underway. We have also planned to set up a Homeopathy and Dental colleges in Mohali so that our children will not require going outside of state or city for any kind of medical education and courses, he maintained.
