AMRITSAR: the 487th birth anniversary of 4th Sikh Guru and founder of holy city Amritsar Sri Guru Ram Dass ji was celebrated with great enthusiasm enthusiasm here today and thousand of devotees took a holy dip in the sacred "sarovar" of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib.
The "jaloo" of ancient traditional Sikh jewellery was held at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Akal Takht Sahib and Gurdwara Baba Atal Sahib from 8.30 am to 12 noon.
A gurmat samagam was held at Gurdwara Manji Sahib after the bhog of Akhand Path
Path Sahib which was started day before yesterday. several raagi dhadis and preachers have recited the Gurbani kirtan and thrown the light of Guru Ram Dass 's teachings.
Beautiful decorations have been made at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib in view of the ceremonies by the SGPC , the management of Sri Darbar Sahib. Beautiful trees have been decorated around Sri Darbar Sahib.Thr entire Golden Temple was also illuminated with colourful lights and fireworks was organized at Golden Temple in the evening after the bhog of rehraas Sahib.
Flowers are also being decorated at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib like every year.
The children have shown good performance in Kavishari, Poetry, Painting, Religious Lectures, Quizzes etc. during the competitions related to the birth anniversary of Guru Ram Das Ji. Bibi Jagir Kaur President SGPC said that such competitions create interest in the life philosophy of Guru Sahib among the children and youth.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Bibi Jagir Kaur today felicitated the winners of the religious competitions conducted by the SGPC for the children of various schools. During the function held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, the President encouraged the winning children by giving them insignia and letters of commendation.
On this occasion Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the school children have paid homage and respect to Guru Sahib by participating in the religious competitions conducted during the Prakash Purab ceremonies.
During the Diwan held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on the occasion of Patshah Ji's Parkash diwas, where Panthic poets recited poems about the incomparable life of Guru Sahib Ji at Kavi Darbar today, Listened to kirtan based on raga from Guru Ram Das Ji's holy Gurbani.
During the Raag Darbar, Shiromani Committee President Bibi Jagir Kaur, Giani Jagtar Singh, Chief Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib shared their views with the Sangat and encouraged them to live according to the life and teachings of the Fourth Patshah Ji. Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Singh Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh Ludhiana Singh, Singh Sahib Giani Balwinder Singh, General Secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Chief Secretary Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, Former Jathedar Gurbachan Singh, Singh Sahib Giani Mohan Singh, Giani Jaswinder Singh, Former Jathedar Bhai were also present.
On this occasion the manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, Baghel Singh, Narinder Singh, Research Scholar Bibi Ranjit Singh, Bibi Harpreet Kaur, Bibi Simranjit Kaur, Bibi Kirandeep Kaur, Bibi Gurmeet Kaur, Rajwinder Singh Joga, Arman Singh etc. were present.
Guru Ram Das ji's bani (spiritual revelations and writings) consists of 638 holy hymns, that Guru ji had composed to 30 different ragas of Indian classical music. These hymns are registered in the sacred scripture Sri Guru Granth Sahib . Through his writings, Guru Ram Das ji shared a common message for the entire humankind, to live a disciplined life full of humility, and to be forever and ever thankful to the True Guru (God).
