PATIALA: Gurmat Sangeet Chair of Punjabi University, Patiala under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Mrs. Ravneet Kaur conducted a one day webinar on the topic of Bani Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji: Musical Perspective.
Opening the webinar, the chair in-charge Dr. Alankar Singh welcomed the scholars and the audience by telling them about the various projects undertaken by the Gurmat Sangeet Chair. The webinar was chaired by Dean Academic Affairs Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill, who lauded the work of the Gurmat Sangeet Chair established at the University since 2003. Bhai Ashok Singh Bagrian, eminent Sikh scholar and heir to the 400 year old Bagria tradition, was the chief guest.
The keynote speaker was eminent classical singer and Professor in the Department of Music, Dr. Nivedita Singh who recited hymns from Bani of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib and said that Guru Sahib has recited 57 Shaloks in addition to 59 Shabads in 17 ragas. The head of the Sikh Encyclopedia Department Prof. Paramvir Singh while summing up the webinar, thanked the scholars, guests and listeners who participated in the webinar on behalf of the university and said that this was the 45th webinar by the Punjabi University dedicated to the 4th Birth Centenary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.
The webinar was attended by a large number of listeners from home and abroad, including faculty and researchers.
