PHAGWARA: Though the police have succeeded to trace a blind murder case of a trader in 24 hours and successfully arrested two accused along with two cars and two weapons, but the family members of the deceased did not satisfy and staged dharna and blocked vehicular road traffic on National Highways near Sugar Mills Chowk demanding arrest of a woman involved in the crime.
Senior Superintendent of the Police RajPal Singh Sandhu while addressing a news conference at Phagwara on Wednesday afternoon said that the police have arrested Harmanpreet Singh a neighour of the deceased Pankaj Duggal (shot dead before his house in New Mansa Devi Nagar Phagwara)and his friend Naresh Handa resident of Surya Enclave Jalandhar.
SSP Sandhu described the murder case as a result of ongoing personal enmity.SSP said that the police have recovered a .32 bore revolver along with three live and three empty cartridges(Used in the crime) and a double barrel gun alongwith 10 live cartridges.Two Cars ie one Baleno Car number PB-30AC-9000 and Ignis Car number PB-8EY-4828 have also been recovered and impounded.
Trouble arose when immediate after the press conference of SSP , the family members of the deceased came to know the arrest of two persons, irate residents alongwith the family members came on roads and demanded immediate arrest of Surinder Kaur, mother of the main accused Harmanpreet and blocked the highways.The Protesters alleged that the said woman is main conspirator.
S.P. Phagwara Gurpreet Singh Gill rushed to the dharna site to pacify the protesters.SP Gill assured the protesters to nominate Surinder Kaur in FIR and dharna cum blockade could be lifted after one hour.
Meanwhile SP Gill said that both arrested accused were produced before local judicial magistrate who sent them in police remand of two days for further interrogation.
