AMRITSAR: There is a code of conduct for the recruitment of Granthis, Ardasis and Chourdars of Sri Harmandir Sahib and without the approval of the Executive Committee, recruitment can be done only after conducting interviews as per the code of conduct.
When it comes to recruitment of granthis, it has been the norm that the
SGPC write a letter to all Panthic and religious organizations that granthis should be recruited in Sri Darbar Sahib.
Apart from this advertisement is also given in some newspapers. Then a special interview is conducted and the age for recruitment of Granthi at Sri Darbar Sahib is 45 years and at least ten years of experience is required but none of the newly recruited Granthis meet the age requirement.
According to some sources, the age has been reduced to 40 years but Sultan Singh's age is still one year less than 39 years while Baljit Singh's age is even less.
Similarly, orders have been issued by the manager to appoint Baljit Singh from Chaur Bardar without the approval of the intimate committee.
At the behest of Head Granthi Golden Temple Giani Jagtar Singh, Gurinder Singh, Manager, Golden Temple, has issued orders for the appointment of Baljit Singh, which is a violation of the rules and may be the subject of special discussion in the Interim Committee.
The President of the SGPC
has the right to make any appointment only in the hope of approval.
To appoint an Ardasia at Sri Darbar Sahib, it is necessary to be a granthi as per the rules of service. But when Sukhdev Singh Baghari was appointed, he did not fulfill this condition and he was only an assistant granthi at that time.
Head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh has completed his service limit and is following the next orders but he never cares about violating the rules whereas a person who is running out of time on the basis of compassion has no right to make decisions regarding appointments. Goes
When asked about this, Mr. Harjinder Singh Dhami, Chief Secretary, SGPC said that the SGPC has to place an advertisement in the newspaper as per the demand which was given by the SGPC and the received applications were handed over to the selection committee. His interview is made up of a selection committee of Granthis and Shiromani Committee members of Sri Darbar Sahib. The selection has to be done
according to the rules and regulations.
He said that no one is above manners, principles and rules and if he violates it then it cannot be tolerated. When it was brought to their notice that the head granthis and granthis of some gurdwaras under the auspices of the Shiromani Committee who had come for interviews were rejected on the grounds that they could not read the text, then why are they kept in external gurdwaras as well? ?
He said that he had no information about this and if any one was rejected due to this then action would be taken but this jurisdiction was with Jathedar Akal Takht and Head Granthi Sri Darbar Sahib.
