Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala organises campaign on Nutri-Garden and Tree Plantation

PATIALA:Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala in association with IFFCO, Patiala organised campaign on Nutri-Garden and Tree Plantation, today. This campaign was organised to mark the International year of millets. In this event more than 100 farmers and farm women participated.

Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Deputy Director (Trg.), KVK, Patiala, welcomed the guests and delivered key-note address on role of plantation on sustainable agriculture and rural livelihood. Sh. Bahadur Singh, State Manager, IFFCO talked about activities of IFFCO for the welfare of farmers and farm women. He emphasized about the importance of organizing such events to make rural masses aware about millets. Dr. Rachna Singla, Assistant Professor (Horticulture), discussed about the nutrition gardening and mushroom cultivation for nutritional security of the family. Dr. Rajni Goel, Associate Professor (Food Science) talked about scope of food processing. Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur, Associate Professor (Home Science) delivered lecture on nutri-cereals and their role for human health. Participants attended online nutri-mega enclave organized by ICAR-IIMR-Hyderabad. Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabhikhi, Assistant Professor (Plant Pathology) delivered lecture on Prospects of Bee Keeping. Web telecast of the programme from ICAR, New Delhi was keenly attended by the participants. Vegetable seed kits and fruit plants were distributed among the farmers and farm women during this campaign. A quiz contest on Millets was also organized during this event and winners of the quiz Kulwinder Kaur (vill. Inderpura), Gurdeep Kaur (vill. Panaudia), Navpreet Kaur (Nabha), Sandeep Kaur (vill. Mangewal) & Charanjit Kaur (vill. Kallarmajri) were given trophies.
