JCT Group closes its last mill in Punjab, employees not paid salaries for last 6 months

CHANDIGARH: The JCT Group has clsoed its last yarn factory at Chaul near Hoshiarpur located on Chintpurmi road was shut down by the management without paying salaries of workers for the last six months. The factory was running is losses for quite some time.

It is learnt that electricity connection of the factory was snapped a month ago due to non-payment of power bills. The factory was being run on generator sets. The first JCT factory was set yp in Hoshiarpur in 1975.

The factory workers were protesting for the payment of salaries and alleged that mill management had put the future of their famiies in jeopardy. However after intevention of the district administration, the mill's Vice President K.S.Dhillon assured that arrears of workers would be paid between September 10 to 15. SDM Hosjiarpur Preet Inder Singh Bains also remained present during meeting between workers and mill management. The workers would be allowed to live in the JCT colony till the time all arrears are not cleared, officials said.
