LUCKNOW: Bijli Mahapanchayat of farmers, common consumers and electricity employees will be held in Lucknow on June 22 against the background of the UPPCL on Friday night submitting consultation draft for privatisation of power distribution in 42 districts under Agra and Varanasi Discoms to UP Electricity Regulatory Commission(UPERC).
Vidyut Karamchari Samyukta Sangharsh Samiti informed that Dr. Darshan Pal, National President of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and Ramanath Jha, Executive Managing Director of Transparency International India will specially attend this Bijli mahapanchayat along with office bearers of Bar Council and Consumer Forums .A large number of farmers are also expected to attend this Bijli Mahapanchayat. Families of electricity employees in large numbers are also joining .
The President , General Secretary and other principal officers of all the state power engineers association are expected to attend this historical event. In this event all the leaders present will decide the future outline of the protest movement against privatization and UPPCL actions.
The employees have decided to invite the state energy minister in the meeting so that he can tell us the benefits of privatisation in the power sector in Uttar Pradesh and also listen to the viewpoint of other speakers.
Shailendra Dubey Convener said that the peaceful struggles going on for the last more than six and half months against the privatization of Purvanchal and Dakshinchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam. . A white paper will be issued in the meeting on the truth of the data being given by the Power Corporation management for privatization. UPPCL management is hand in glove with corporate houses and watches only their interest at the cost of common consumers.
