Talking to the media after the meeting, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the people have suffered a lot due to the floods in Punjab. Due to this, while the crops of the farmers have been destroyed, the sand in the lands has also created a big problem for the farmers. The Guru Ghars of the affected villages have also been damaged. He said that the Shiromani Committee has been continuously active in the affected areas since the days of the floods and after discussing the flood-affected areas in today's meeting, the Shiromani Committee has decided to reserve Rs 20 crore as an initial amount.
He said that the biggest problem for the flood-affected farmers is to level the fields and make them suitable for sowing, for which the SGPC will provide 8 lakh liters of diesel to the needy. Along with this, good quality wheat seeds will also be provided to the farmers with less than 10 acres of land.
Advocate Dhami said that assistance of Rs 50, 000 each will be given to the flood-affected Gurdwaras. Along with this, the Shiromani Committee will provide free books to the needy children whose books have been damaged.
The Shiromani Committee President said that the Shiromani Committee is already providing medical teams to the people in the flood-affected areas, now in view of the increasing problems after the water recedes, 50 medical vans from Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College will be deployed in these areas. He also said that the work of providing langar and ration to the needy by the Shiromani Committee will continue as before.
The SGPC President demanded from the Punjab government that VAT be abolished from the diesel given to the farmers, so that maximum help could be provided to the people. He appealed to the Sangat and said that the relief work being done by the SGPC is being done with the support of Guru Ki Golak and the Sangat. Therefore, the Sangat should contribute generously to these works.
Meanwhile, the organization of former employees of the SGPC handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh 1 thousand for the flood victims to the SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. In the inter-ministerial committee, a condolence vote was paid to Baba Baljinder Singh Rara Sahib, who passed away recently, as well as those who died in the floods.

SGPC has so far sent essential goods worth more than Rs 77 lakh for flood victims.
Giving details of the relief work done so far, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the SGPC has delivered more than Rs 77 lakh 40 thousand worth of essential goods from various Gurdwaras to the people in the flood-affected areas. In this, while langar supplies were sent to the people on a large scale from Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, essential goods worth Rs 23 lakh 85 thousand were also sent. Similarly, Rs 3 lakh 89 thousand was provided from Sri Darbar Sahib Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rs 3 lakh 65 thousand from Gurdwara Patshahi Nauvini Baba Bakala Sahib, Rs 2 lakh 51 thousand from Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib Dera Baba Nanak, Rs 16 lakh 8 thousand from Gurdwara Gurusar Jamni Sahib Bajidpur, Rs 2 lakh 6 thousand from Gurdwara Sahib Guru Ka Bagh, Rs 12 lakh 95 thousand from Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib Sultanpur Lodhi, Rs 2 lakh 62 thousand from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo, Rs 9 lakh 66 thousand from Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib Patiala for various projects.
