Governor of Jammu and Kashmir joined the Nagar Kirtan and paid homage to Guru Teg Bahadur

JAMMU: The Nagar Kirtan that started from Gurdwara Matan Sahib yesterday left for the next stage from Digiana Ashram, Jammu on the second day. On this occasion, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Manoj Sinha, specially participated and paid homage to Guru Sahib.

On this occasion, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Manoj Sinha also addressed the congregation. In his address, he said that the Sikh Gurus protected the oppressed by sacrificing their lives against oppression. He said that when the Hindus of Kashmir were being forcibly converted by the Mughal rulers, Kashmiri Pandits under the leadership of Pandit Kirpa Ram Ji appealed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Sri Anandpur Sahib. Upon which the ninth Guru Ji defended the religion by sacrificing his life against the oppression. He said that there is no such example in the history of the world that someone has sacrificed his life for the protection of their religion.

He said that the events being held in different states of the country dedicated to this historical day will be helpful in making people aware of the history of Guru Sahib's martyrdom. He said that he considers it his fortune that he has got the opportunity to pay respect to Guru Sahib on the occasion of this great Nagar Kirtan. He appealed to the countrymen to live their lives according to the teachings of Guru Sahib.

During the function, the Shiromani Committee presented the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Manoj Sinha, to the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Giani Tek Singh, the interim member of the Shiromani Committee, Mr. Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar, Mr. Surjit Singh Tugalwal, member, Mr. Khushvinder Singh Bhatia, Mr. Sukhwars Singh Pannu and Mahant Manjit Singh honored him.
