CHANDIGARH: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab, wholeheartedly welcomes and thanks the BJP-led Rajasthan Government for reissuing the official notification allowing Sikh candidates to wear their religious articles of faith — including Kakaars such as Kirpan, Kara, and Pagri (Turban) — while appearing in all competitive examinations conducted in the state.
This notification, first issued in December 2019, has now been reaffirmed and circulated again on July 29, 2025, by the Rajasthan Home Department. It directs all concerned departments, including the Police, Education, and Recruitment Boards, to ensure that Sikh candidates are not stopped from wearing their articles of faith during examinations, while also ensuring that no prohibited or suspicious devices are carried inside the exam hall.
Bikramjit Singh Cheema, Vice President, BJP Punjab, said, "This decision is not only a matter of administrative clarity but also a shining example of India’s commitment to religious freedom and respect for diversity. It reflects the BJP’s consistent stand of honoring all religions and safeguarding the constitutional rights of every citizen.
On behalf of the Sikh community and the BJP Punjab, I extend heartfelt gratitude to the Rajasthan Government and Bharatiya Janata Party leadership for ensuring that the Sikh community’s faith and traditions are fully respected in official procedures, said Cheema.
BJP Punjab reiterates that it will continue to stand by all communities and uphold the ethos of "Sarva Dharma Sambhav", ensuring respect, equality, and dignity for all faiths in public life.
