Tota assures sufficient supply of Urea to Punjab farmers

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Agriculture Minister Jathedar Tota Singh today assured the farming community of sufficient urea supply required for wheat crop as the state has already received 10 lac MTs of urea by December 13 as compared to 8.23 lac MT received till date during previous year.
Giving the details he said that the state government had sent the intent of 13, 15, 000 MT for the current season and fully confident of supplying it to the farmers on time. He also appealed the farmers to not hoard urea amidst apprehension of shortage of supply as this trend could lead to artificial shortage. He said that we were receiving the urea in phased manner as it was mainly required in January and February now and we would have sufficient supplies by that time. He said the state agriculture department has been devising a Performa to be got it filled from concerned farmer describing his requirements, so that a more efficient system could be developed for supply of urea.
