Patients suffering from mental illness should be treated without any fear: Dr Rajinder Arora

FEROZEPUR: As per the directions issued from time to time by the government and district administration, the health department of Ferozepur is fighting against corona and dengue with full vigor and all other health programs are being implemented efficiently.

Similarly the National Mental Health Program run by the government is also an important program. Drug addiction is also a mental disorder. There has been a huge increase in the number of people suffering from mental illness today.

This information was shared by Dr. Rajinder Arora, Civil Surgeon, Ferozepur and Deputy Medical Commissioner in a message addressed to the residents of the district on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.

Dr. Arora said that the theme of this year's World Mental Health Day is 'Mental Health in an Equal World'. .

He was also told that people suffering from mental illnesses are not aware of their illness, so they do not recognize psychiatric disorders due to mental stress and anxiety.

The insomnia, restlessness and suspicion mentioned by him are all early symptoms of psychiatry so the government has psychiatrists available in all the districts of Punjab for the services of psychiatrists. It is also possible to treat mental illness in a civil hospital in Ferozepur district.

Dr. Manchanda, Deputy Medical Commissioner, District Hospital Ferozepur, said that in the beginning, a person used to take drugs at the behest of his peers or as an experiment. He also said that drugs are the door to destruction. In which once a person enters, he has to face great difficulties to get out of this drug swamp. He revealed that when addicted to any kind of drug, it destroys him physically, mentally, financially and intellectually and the addict has to pay a heavy price to his family and society.
He said that drug addiction was a mental disorder and one could get rid of the leprosy of drugs with determination and proper medical help.
He informed that the services of psychiatrists, counselors and medicines were available free of cost at the de-addiction center at District Hospital Ferozepur.
Psychiatrist Dr. Rachna Mittal appealed that if any member of any family is addicted to drugs and suffering from psychiatry then he should be immediately taken to the government hospital for treatment, where the identity of the patient is kept secret. Apart from this free drug rehabilitation and free counseling services are available at all the oat centers operating in the district. He also appealed to all the residents of the district to avail the health facilities being provided by the government.
A large number of officials and employees of the Health Department Ferozepur were present on the occasion.
