Mohali Civil Hospital converted into dedicated Covid hospital

MOHALI: Civil Hospital Phase 6 Mohali has been converted into dedicated Covid hospital. The OPD and emergency services have been shifted to ESI hospital in Industrial Area Phase 7, Mohali.

According to hralth authorities Civil hospital now has facility of 100 Covid beds with oxygen but there is no ventilators and ICU beds. The eight ventilators available with the hospital have been given to private hospitals, four to Fortis hospital and 4 to Max hospital.

The ventilators were received under PM care fund but could'nt be put into use due to lack of technical staff. The district health authorities were waiting for start of Mohali Medical College to use these ventilators. However, MP Manish Tiwari insisted to hand over the ventilators either to PGI or private hospitals to use for critical
Covid patients.

No government hospital in the Mohali district has level 3 ICU facility where as private hospitals has 256 ICU beds. Mohali is home district of health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.

Adarshpal Kaur Civil Surgeon Mohali said that more beds would be added after appointment of more doctors and para-medical staff. She said that they had sent the request to appoint staff for ventilator facility long back.
