Welcoming the decision, Sibin C, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, said, "This progressive initiative by the Election Commission of India will go a long way in motivating and empowering Booth Level Officers, who are the frontline workers of our electoral system. BLOs are the crucial link between voters and the Election Commission - they carry the responsibility of upholding the integrity of the voter list, conducting house-to-house verification, and facilitating voter participation. By substantially increasing the remuneration, the ECI has acknowledged their contribution and commitment. It is indeed a landmark decision and will help us enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the electoral process in Punjab."
