AMRITSAR: Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar of Akal Takhat highest seat of Sikh religion has taken serious notice of receiving threats to kill Ravi Bhalla, the Sikh mayor of the city of Hoboken, New Jersey, USA, along with his family due to racism.
In a statement issued here today, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that Sikh philosophy is the biggest issue of inter-faith harmony and global community, but despite this, increasing crimes against Sikhs abroad due to confusion of identity or racial hatred are painful. .
He said that Ravi Bhalla was the first Sikh mayor of the American city of Hoboken in November 2017, who got this status because of his merit, honesty, hard work and trustworthiness. He said that Ravi Bhalla receiving threats through letters and emails to resign or to be ready to die along with his family is an anti-human act against which the US government should take immediate action.
Giani Raghbir Singh said that in whatever region and country the Sikhs have settled in the world, they are making a lot of contributions in the economic, social and political fields of their beliefs. Racial attacks abroad due to racial hatred against Sikhs is intolerable.
He said that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee should register the Sikh sentiments regarding the incident of receiving ethnic threats to the Sikh Mayor Ravi Bhalla at the US Embassy in India and demand to stop such attacks.
