Holi Festival hosted by IAI in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS: The India Association of Indianapolis celebrated its annual Holi Celebration 2023 at Global Village Welcome Center, Lafayette Road her on Saturday.

A large number of Indian Americans and persons of other communities participate with enthusiasm. After the vibrant culture programme, which included Indian folk dances/songs. The 'Festival of Color' was hosted outside the building, DJ and Dhol added more attraction as the participants applited "gulal' at each other's faces.

Strong cold breeze could not stop the participants from 'coloring' them with different colors of gulal (powder). Without knowing the significance of Holi Festival, the first timers enjoyed the dances and even participated, \

The program commenced at 10.30 am. After the welcome address National Anthems of India and USA were sung. Anwita Shahi, Shuruthilys Yagnaraju, KingalSongirkar, Prachi Pandya, Deetya Rajagopal and Lavanya Mohan sung the Ganesha Kavuthuvam. It was followed by Nemaliki Nerpina by Kavita. Jayakumar Dharmapuri performed the solo piano playing.

Marrisa McCloud, a regular participant in Indian cultural programs, danced on Chhan Ke Mohalla. There were dazzling performances by Indy Bollywood (big group), Bollywood Holi Tinytots, Puja Group Dance (mix of Hindi, folk Gujarati, Marathi and Tamil songs), Ghar More Pardeshiya song (choreographers Virinda Doshi and Puja Pandiya), Jai Jai Shiv Shankar group song choreographer Hardi Shah, Pushpanjali group song (choreographer Sharmila Jothirajah -- Natyalaya School of Arts, Holi Padmavat song by Asrini Pareek, Bollywood song by Mudra Dance Academy artists.
