State of Utah honored Sikh Nation, recognizes Khalsa Sajna Divas (Vaisakhi) as Sikh Day

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: Today another great news for Sikhs around the world came from America when the Utah State Senate and Assembly passed a joint resolution recognizing April 14 as Sikh Day every year. Similarly Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox issued a declaration establishing Vaisakhi as Sikh Day.

In this regard, a special event was arranged in the Legislative Assembly of the State of Utah, where the two resolutions passed state that Sikhism is the fifth largest religion in the world, with more than 500, 000 of its 30 million people living in the United States. Visakhi is one of the most important festivals of the Sikhs, in this year 2023 when it is the 554th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Sahib, the founder of Sikhism, which is celebrated on a large scale throughout the world, the Sikhs contribution in social, cultural and economic fields was mentioned and the contribution made by Sikhs in American army, technology, agriculture, trade, trucking, health services has been appreciated.

Talking about love, equality, tolerance with humanity in Sikh philosophy, referring to religious equality, tolerance and cultural unity in Utah State under the American Constitution, Utah State recognized April 14 as Sikh Day in recognition of the contribution made by Sikhs in every field.

Representative Angela Romero opened the special program and welcomed everyone, State Senator Luz Escamilla introduced the Joint Resolution in the Legislature, Representative Cheryl Acten issued the Governor's Proclamation. World Sikh Parliament Coordinator Himmat Singh thanked the Governor of Utah State and all the representatives, and finally Representative Romero expressed happiness for everybody's support in making this program a success.

World Sikh Parliament' efforts to promote these important works of the Sikh community in Utah and other states are being appreciated from all around, and especially those who congratulated for these resolutions recognizing the Vaisakhi as National Sikh Day are; Speaker of the World Sikh Parliament S. Joga Singh; American Gurdwara Management Committee's Dr. Pritpal Singh and S. Jaswant Singh Hothi; Sikh Coordination Committee's S. Harjinder Singh and S. Jugraj Singh and other Sikh leaders expressed their happiness and congratulated american sikhs for these continued efforts.

World Sikh Parliament Coordinator Himmat Singh and Secretary Bibi Harman Kaur contributed a lot to put forth these resolutions and made this event successful along with local Sikh leaders. Sikh community leaders especially S. Harjinder Singh, S. Balwinder Singh, S. Gurcharanjit Singh, President of Sikh Gurdwara Nanak Darbar West Jordan S. Gurmeet Singh, S. Buta Singh, S. Arshdeep Singh, S. Jarmaljit Singh, and S. Baljit Singh of World Sikh Parliament from New York joined this special event.
