CHANDIGARH: Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh”, Punjab Police conducted raids at 282 locations on Friday leading to the arrest of 61 drug smugglers after registration of 52 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 40, 748 in 293 days.
The raids have resulted in recovery of 528 grams heroin, 2.4 kg opium, 214 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 3.02 lakhs drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.
Over 100 Police teams, comprising over 800 police personnel, under the supervision of 60 gazetted officers have conducted 282 raids across the state. Police teams have also checked as many as 282 suspicious persons during the day-long operation.
