PHAGWARA: Tragedy struck a family in Sultanpur Lodhi, as news arrived this morning of the untimely death of Navjot Singh, a young man who had been working in Dubai as a tanker driver. The fatal accident occurred yesterday when the tanker he was driving overturned. Although he was rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries before any medical intervention could be administered.
Navjot, who had moved to Dubai in November 2024 in search of better employment opportunities, was the only brother of two sisters and remained unmarried. The news of his death has plunged his entire village into mourning. Locals describe him as a hardworking and responsible young man who aspired to improve his family's future.
His father, a Granthi Singh serving at the local Gurdwara, was reportedly at the Gurdwara when the family received the devastating news. The grief-stricken family is now seeking assistance from both the Indian and Punjab governments to facilitate the repatriation of Navjot’s body to India, so that he may be given a final farewell in accordance with religious and cultural rites.
The sudden loss has left the family shattered and the local community in a state of shock. Villagers have been visiting the bereaved family to offer condolences and support in this difficult time.
The family hopes that the government will act swiftly to ensure that Navjot’s remains are brought home without delay, allowing them the closure they so desperately seek.
