Woman travel agent booked for duping Chandigarh,Kurali residents of Rs.6.20 lakhs

NURMAHAL: The Bilga police have booked a woman travel agent for allegedly duping a Chandi Garh and Kurali (Rup Nagar ) residents of Rs 6.20 lakhs on the pretext of sending them abroad.

The Station house officer (SHO) H.S.Maan said that the accused has been identified as Lovenit Kaur wife of Gurwindar Singh a resident of Virk Colony, Talwann village

SHO said that Nihal Pathania a resident of sector 48- B Chandi Garh and Shubam Shukala a resident of Kurali town in Rup Nagar district complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that they had paid Rs 6.20 lakhs to the accused for facilitating their migration abroad. However, neither did they were sent abroad nor return the money.

SHO said a case under section 420 (cheating) and 406(breach of trust)of the IPC and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and further investigation has been handed over to sub-inspector Som Nath.
