NURMAHAL: The Nurmahal police have arrested a woman on the charge of polling a vote in municipal election by personifying.The investigating officer (IO) Jeet Singh said that the accused has been identified as Harpreet Kaur wife of Satwindar Singh a resident of house number 273, Basti Danishmand, Jalandhar and presently living near Gurdwara Sahib Teli Nurmahal .
Bhupindar Singh presiding officer at a booth in ward number 3 complained to the police that the accused came to polling booth for polling a vote and polling agent Sonia Bhogal identified her and sent her to him and he acting on directions of the state election commission issued her voting slip recorded as Gitanjali serial number 247 and allowed her to cast vote as photo on voter list was similar with photo on Adhar card.
Presiding officer said in his complaint the later on polling agent filed a written objection that woman who polled her vote as Gitanjalai is not Gitanjali but Harpreet Kaur .Bhupindar Singh said that he verified that Harpreet Kaur came to vote by personifying as Gitanjali and action should be taken against the accused .
IO said that a case under section 171-F (personify at an election ) has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.
