PHAGWARA: :On a complaint lodged by Smt Avneet Kaur resident of village Jagpalpur the Rawalpindi(Phagwara) police have registered a case under Sections 498-A and 406 of the Indian Penal Code against her husband Paramdeep Singh, his father Nazir Singh and mother Harbans Kaur
As per the brief facts emerging from the inquiry report numbered 640233, the complainant has alleged that after her marriage, she was subjected to continuous harassment and pressure for dowry by her husband Parmdeep Singh, his father Nazir Singh Baath, and mother Harbans Kaur on the charges of torturing her for more dowry. The accused family originally belongs to Manunke village in Jagraon tehsil of Ludhiana, and is currently stated to be residing in New Zealand.
The complaint further alleges that the accused issued threats to her life, caused mental cruelty, and unlawfully retained her istridhan (marital belongings). It is also alleged that she was forcibly turned out of the matrimonial home and not allowed to reside there thereafter. Based on these allegations and the findings of the preliminary inquiry, the police have formally registered the case and initiated legal proceedings.Phagwara S.P.
