PHAGWARA: Two robbers broke into the house of a former SDO at Mohalla Pritam Nagar on Palahi Road here, took the elderly man hostage and fled with 10 tolas of gold worth more than Rs Five Lac, cash of Rs 30, 000/-- and a valuable watch. .
The victim Ram Lal Hira said that he was sitting in the yard of his house at 9 am today when suddenly two motorcyclists knocked on his door. The police said, one of the accused was holding a diary in his hand and asked the old man if his son lives in Australia, the old man answered in the affirmative and the accused started beating him.
After which they fled with cash and belongings in his house. Then he opened himself up. On the other hand, Ram Lal's daughter Seema, who got married in a nearby village, said that she was informed by the residents of the mohalla over the phone and she reached home shortly after and the incident was reported to the police.
