PHAGWARA: A pall of gloom enveloped Nasirabad village near Phagwara after a 19-year-old youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances last night, sending shockwaves through the local community. The deceased has been identified as Karan, a resident of the village.
According to family members, Karan returned home late at night after consuming alcohol. He was advised by his family to go to sleep in his room; however, he reportedly kept stepping outside the house repeatedly for reasons unknown. The family did not suspect anything unusual at the time. On Sunday morning, when family members woke up, they found Karan lying dead, following which panic and grief gripped the household.
The exact circumstances surrounding the youth’s death remain unclear, raising questions and concern among villagers. Upon receiving information, SHO Major Singh of Rawalpindi Police Station arrived at the spot along with his police team and initiated preliminary inquiries. The body was taken into police custody and sent to the Civil Hospital, Phagwara, for postmortem examination.
Police officials stated that the body would be handed over to the family after the completion of the postmortem. They added that the precise cause of death would be determined once the postmortem report is received. Meanwhile, the police have launched further investigation to ascertain whether the death was accidental, due to health complications, or involved other factors.
