CHANDIGARH: A court in Sunam, district Sangrur today sentenced Punjab cabinet minister Aman Arora and seven others including his mother Parmeshwari Devi for two years in jail in a domestic violence case. The court has granted him bail till December 25.
Two years sentence was announced in a case registered under section 452 of IPC and one year sentence under section 323 of IPC. The decision in the case came after 15 years.
The case of domestic violence was registered by Rajinder Deepa in 2008 an Akali Dal leader and brother in law of Aman Arora. Deepa alleged that Aman Arora and his accomplices attacked him due to familt dispute. They entered his home and tried to grab property. Aman Arora's sister married to Deepa.
A case was also registered against Deepa for attacking Aman Arora but later Deepa was absolved of charges after a police inquiry. When police didn't register case against Aman Arora, the Akali leader filed the complaint directly in the court.
Aman Arora said that they had reached a compromsie with Deepa who later backed out and filed the complaint. He said that he has full faith in judiciary and will approach the higher court for justice. He said Deepa had beaten him and his sister and mother. They had withdrawn compliant against Deepa after compromise.
