PHAGWARA: In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through the region, a woman was brutally murdered by unidentified assailants near the Radha Soami Satsang Ghar on the Lohian-Makhu road on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Harjit Kaur, wife of Talwinder Singh, originally a resident of Ferozepur city and currently living in Guru Nanak Colony, Lohian Khas.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Labh Singh of Lohian police station, Harjit Kaur was en route towards Gidder Pindi for personal errands after dropping her daughter at school when she was attacked with sharp-edged weapons. The assailants reportedly inflicted fatal injuries, resulting in her death on the spot.

Local sources revealed that Harjit Kaur hailed from the village of Turna in the Lohian block. The village sarpanch, Darshan Singh, confirmed that she was the daughter of Sadhu Singh and had recently been living in Lohian Khas with her only child. Her husband is currently working abroad to support the family.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind the attack was robbery. The attackers fled the scene with Harjit Kaur’s gold earring, purse, and mobile phone. However, they left behind personal documents, including her ID card, which were recovered at the scene.
