NRI Husband among five members of family booked for abetting suicide

NAKODAR:The Nakodar sadar police have booked five members of a family including the husband of a woman on the charge of abetting suicide. The investigating officer Inderjit Singh said the accused has been identified as Sarabjit Singh a resident of Sarinh village and presently living in Manila (Philippines )and his four sisters Kamaljit, Baljit, Jindar and Ranno residents of Sarinh village.

Amarjit Singh a resident of Pandher village complained to the police that his daughter Jasbir Kaur’s marriage was solemnized with Sarabjit Singh in Manila ten years ago who used to harass his daughter there.

He said that his daughter Jasbir Kaur came to India on February 1 to attend her brother‘s marriage but his son-in-law did not accompany her wife nor did allow two children to go with their mother and told that if she goes to India he will not sponsor her return back.

Amarjit Singh said his daughter remained tense and used to visit her in-law’s house and her husband stopped talking with his wife nor allowed children to talk with their mother.

He said that his daughter came to her parental house on September 20 as she was extremely harassed by his husband and sisters-in-law.

Amarjit Singh said that Jasbir Kaur consumed some poisonous substance on September 22 in Pandher village and was rushed to a Lohian Khas clinic from where she was referred to DMC Ludhiana where she breathed her last on September 29 adding that his daughter told him that she consumed poison due to harassment from her husband and sisters-in-laws.
The IO said a case under Sections 306 (abetting suicide) of the IPC has been registered against the accused Sarabjit Singh and his sisters and further investigations are on.
