MOHALI: The court of Additional Session Judge Mohali today rejected the pre-arrest bail of SAD leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia who is wanted by police in a drug case.

The Bureau of Investigtion of Punjab Police has registered a FIR against Majithia under sections 25/27A and 29 of NDPC Act for his alleged involvement in drug racket. The opposition parties had earlier blamed Majithia for being kingpin of the drug mafia in Punjab.

Majithia is absconding after registration of FIR against him and hiding at a safe place. On the request of Punjab Police, the Union Home Ministry has issued a lookout notice for Majithia so that he may not run out of country.

The case was registered on the basis of report submitted by Special Task Force constituted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that police would not spare any person involved in drug trade.

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa home minister of Punjab said that Majithia was booked after investigation and as per law. He said that STF report was submitted to the High Court but state government under Capt Amarinder Singh failed to take any action. He said that now High Court has asked the state government who has restrained the government from taking action on report. He said that after arrest of Majithia, all his accomplices would be identified. He said that police was conducting raids to arrest Majithia.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal who is brother in law of Majithia is defending the latter and accusing the Channi government for vendetta.
