PHILLAUR: In a deeply disturbing incident, the phillaur police have registered a case under Section 376(3) of the Indian Penal Code, relating to sexual assault on a minor, following a complaint received on Thursday.
According to reports, the victim, a 16-year-old girl from her family, was alone at home when an unidentified individual allegedly forced entry into the house and committed the offence. The incident is stated to have occurred during daytime hours, heightening concerns over safety and security in residential areas.
On the basis of the statement, the police formally registered the case against an unknown accused. The investigation has been entrusted to Inspector Meena Kumari, who is leading the probe and coordinating efforts to identify the perpetrator. Police officials stated that all procedural safeguards mandated in cases involving minors are being strictly followed, including victim support measures and confidentiality.
Senior officers have assured that forensic, technical, and local intelligence inputs are being examined to trace the accused at the earliest. They further appealed to the public to cooperate with the investigation and share any relevant information that may assist the police, while refraining from speculation or circulation of unverified details.
