PHAGWARA: In a tragic incident, the body of a middle-aged man was recovered from a village pond in Sarhali village near Phagwara on Wednesday morning, sending shockwaves across the area. The deceased has been identified as Santokh Ram, a resident of the same village.
According to information received, some villagers noticed a body floating in the pond and immediately alerted the local police. Acting swiftly, a police team reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and with the assistance of local residents, retrieved the body from the water.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the incident came to light when villagers gathered near the pond for routine activities and spotted the body floating on the surface. The identity of the deceased was later confirmed by family members.
The police have sent the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Officials stated that the cause of the tragedy is yet to be determined, and further investigation is underway.
