PHAGWARA: Nawanshahr police on Thursday night carried out a major raid at a poultry farm located along the main road near village Mehli, recovering a large stockpile of firecrackers worth several lakhs of rupees. The operation was led by CIA staff, Nawanshahr.
According to police officials, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the recovery, and the poultry farm has been sealed. The firecrackers material(potash)have been taken into police custody for further investigation.
Speaking about the case, police officers said that the investigation is focused on determining whether the firecrackers were being illegally manufactured at the site or transported in bulk from another state for storage.
Police sources confirmed that the recovered consignment (about 2600 kg) is valued in lakhs, marking one of the significant seizures in recent times. Further inquiries are underway to trace the supply chain and identify others potentially involved.
