PHAGWARA: After investigation into the alleged incident of sacrilege in Kapurthala village by the SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, the the Police have arrested the caretaker (Granthi) of the Kapurthala gurdwara identified as Amarjit Singh for the lynching of unidentified intruder.

Amarjit Singh had allegedly led a mob that killed the man suspected of attempted sacrilege at the gurdwara. Confirming the arrest, IG GS Dhillon said, "We have registered a case of murder against 100 people to set an example that lynching cannot be allowed."

Notable though IG and SSP on first day claimed that no sacrilege incident could be proved and the police will register case of murder against 100 plus mob but political pressure forced the police to register case of sacrilege only but thorough investigation successfully brought the truth in light.
