Heroin Smuggler Caught Red-Handed Near Lakhkan Kalan, 130 Grams Seized

PHAGWARA: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff of Kapurthala apprehended a suspected drug smuggler near the Khalsa Academy in Lakhkan Kalan. The suspect was caught red-handed in possession of 130 grams of heroin, along with a small amount of cash.

According to CIA Incharge Jarnail Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Keval Singh and his team were patrolling the area near the villages of Bishanpur, Lakhkan Kalan, and Hamira when the incident occurred. While passing near the Khalsa Academy, the team noticed a man riding a scooter (registration number PB02EG-0153) approaching from the opposite direction.

On spotting the police team, the individual appeared visibly nervous and attempted to turn back. In the process, he lost control of the scooter, slipped, and fell on the road. He then tried to flee on foot but was quickly chased down and apprehended by the police.

Upon questioning, the accused identified himself as Tarshbir Singh, a resident of Jalluwal, Beas, in Amritsar district. A search led to the recovery of 130 grams of heroin and ₹70 in cash from his possession.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Sadar Police Station in Kapurthala.
