KAPURTHALA: : A Granthi Singh on his way to duty was brutally attacked and looted by three masked men dressed in Nihang attire near Sultanpur Lodhi on Wednesday. The assailants injured him with sharp-edged weapons before fleeing with his motorcycle, mobile phone and cash.
The victim, identified as Bhai Surjit Singh Nall, a resident of Chuharpur, was on his way from Machhi Jowa village to Ber Sahib when the incident occurred. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Sultanpur Lodhi, by passersby, where doctors said he sustained a deep head injury requiring about 20 stitches.
Following the complaint of the injured Granthi, the Sultanpur Lodhi police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons.
Station House Officer Sonamdeep Kaur confirmed the incident and said that police teams are scanning CCTV footage from cameras installed near the crime spot to trace the accused.
Members of the Akhand Paathi Welfare Society, including Bhai Nishan Singh Pangota, Bhai Harcharan Singh, Bhai Kulwinder Singh, Bhai Rajinder Singh Ahli, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Bhathal, and Bhai Jagdish Singh, have demanded swift police action and justice for the victim.
