General public should be alert about cyber crime, Protect your money by being careful and cautious: SP Upasana

KAITHAL: Kaithal, February 19 (UNI) While giving information, SP Upasana said that in the era of modernity, every field has been digitized, due to which, while the common citizens have benefited a lot from this, the same criminal type of people are breaking into it and committing cyber crimes. People are being defrauded by adopting new methods every day, to stop themfrom this we all will have to make joint efforts.The general public should be alert about cyber crime.

She also appealed to the general public not to open the links received in any way and not to share any of their personal information with anyone under the influence of any inducement or belief given on any phone call, message, email etc.

SP said that sometimes due to the festive season, while shopping online, be especially careful after looking at the offers and do not make advance payment by being alert. She said that to help you, if anyone asks you for any information by pretending to be an employee of Bank, Electricity Corporation, Telephone Exchange, Income Tax or any department, then you should not give any of your information to him. She said that every person is the target of cyber thugs. He is the man, who is connected through any digital medium. Be it internet media or internet banking.

With changing times, cyber fraudsters have also changed their tactics. Cyber thugs send friend requests to people through any application through internet media. He befriends them and gradually gathers all the information about them. After that the vicious people make them victims of fraud. They also collect their personal photos/bank account related information and trap them and transfer the money deposited in their accounts. In such a situation, the general public should take care that they keep their internet media accounts and banking apps securely locked and avoid sharing their personal information with anyone. Use multi-factor authentication, keep your passwords strong and do not share OTP or other information with anyone and use any type of app with caution. If someone becomes a victim of cyber fraud due to carelessness then contact National Cyber Helpline no. Register your complaint immediately by calling 1930 or on cybercrime.gov.in.
