Burglary Reported at Regency Town Residence in Phagwara; One Suspect Identified

 PHAGWARA: A case of burglary was reported in the early hours of Saturday morning at a private residence in Regency Town, Phagwara. According to official police records, the complaint was lodged by Atul Jalota, a resident of Regency Town.

In his statement, Atul informed the police that at approximately 3:10 a.m., he received a phone call from a neighbour who reported suspicious activity at his house, numbered 34 in the same locality. Responding immediately, Atul reached the site, where he noticed clear signs of forced entry.

Witnesses present at the scene stated that two individuals were seen escaping the premises. One suspect reportedly jumped from the roof and fled the scene, while another exited the house through the main door carrying a sack-like bag. Residents of the area managed to identify one of the men as Rohit Kumar alias Kalu, originally a resident of Gali No. 3, Patel Nagar, Phagwara, and currently residing in Gali No. 9, Ankar Nagar, Phagwara.

Upon inspection of the property, Jalota discovered that the bathroom fittings had been damaged and certain items appeared to have been stolen. The police have registered a formal complaint (FIR) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and initiated an investigation into the incident.

The identified suspect, Rohit Kumar alias Kalu, has been named as an accused, and authorities have confirmed that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend him. Preliminary reports suggest that the burglary involved at least two individuals, one of whom remains unidentified at this stage.

Local residents have expressed concern over the increasing number of such incidents in the area and have urged law enforcement agencies to enhance night patrols and surveillance. Police officials have assured residents that appropriate measures are being taken to ensure security in the neighbourhood.The investigation remains ongoing.
