Batala resident booked for outraging religious feelings

PHAGWARA: The Nakodar Sadar police have booked a Batala resident on charges of outraging religious feelings by insulting religious beliefs.

Investigating Officer (IO) Balvir Singh said that the accused has been identified as Sukhveer Singh, a resident of Ajnala Road, Fatehgarh Churrian town in Batala.

Dharmindar, a resident of Nagal Jiwan village, complained to the police that the accused used defamatory words against Baghwan Valmik Ji on social media and outraged the religious feelings of his community.

IO said a zero FIR case under section 298(injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religious feelings of any class) of the BNS has been registered against the accused and sent it to Fateh Garh Churrian police station as the place of the incident is situated there.
