612 Arrested Following Tips via Safe Punjab WhatsApp Chatbot: SSP Kapurthala Highlights Public Support in Anti-Drug Drive

PHAGWARA: Acting on information received through the Safe Punjab WhatsApp Chatbot, Kapurthala district police have arrested 612 accused persons as part of the state government’s ongoing anti-drug campaign,  Yudh Nasheyan Virudh.

Sharing details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora, said that since the launch of the initiative by the Chief Minister, a total of 1, 365 complaints related to drugs have been received on the Safe Punjab portal. Based on verified information, cases have been registered against 509 individuals, leading to the arrest of 612 accused so far.

The SSP described the Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline as a flagship initiative of the Punjab Government, aimed at providing confidential, accessible, and non-discriminatory assistance to people affected by drug-related issues. He emphasized that the identity of individuals sharing information through the helpline or chatbot is kept completely confidential to ensure their safety and encourage public participation.

He further clarified that details of complainants are not shared even with the district police and remain restricted to the government system, eliminating any potential risk to informants.
