SLSA organises rally on World Aids Day

CHANDIGARH:As per the mandate of NALSA and under the guidance of
State Legal Services Authority  (SLSA ) Patron-in-Chief and High Court Chief
Justice Mr. Ravi Shankar Jha, and Cooperation of  Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri, Judge,
Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairperson, (SLSA),
Chandigarh, to create public Awareness, a rally was organised in Village
Hallomajra.
           The rally was flagged off by Justice Surender Kumar, Member Secretary,
(SLSA), Chandigarh after Ribbon cutting ceremony in the presence of Mr
Pardeep Kumar, Panel Lawyer and Mentor for Legal Aid Clinic, Hallomajra
along with Para Legal Volunteers of  the Authority.     
            The rally started from Government School (Primary Wing) and took a
round of Village Firni on foot by keeping the COVID protocol in mind.  On this
occasion, the gathering was  told about the dreaded disease like AIDS and to
take precautions for the said disease. The pamphlets relating to AIDS
Awareness and the Working of the Authority was distributed among the
gathering of around 1000 people. The condoms and other materials were also
distributed among the gathering.
               World AIDS Day is celebrating on December 1 every year, brings
together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS
and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic. The day
is an opportunity for public and private partners to spread awareness about
the status of the pandemic and encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention,
treatment and care around the world. The red ribbon is the global symbol for
solidarity with HIV-positive people and those living with AIDS.
              The theme for World AIDS Day 2021 is “END INEQUALITIES. END
AIDS. END PANDEMICS.” The UNAIDS warns of millions of deaths over the
coming years if the leaders fail to tackle the inequalities regarding HIV.
