CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal General Secretary and Spokesperson, Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad, has expressed deep concern over the discriminatory actions of the Chandigarh administration.

Peer Mohammad, in a press statement issued today, expressed disappointment with the decision of the Chandigarh administration. He highlighted that the current ban on admitting children from Punjab in government schools is akin to discriminating against a specific caste or community. Considering that the foundation of our country was laid by people of all religions and their respective traditions, it is crucial that people from all classes are treated with equal respect. The discrimination faced by Punjabis sheds light on the broader issues of discrimination perpetuated by the central government.

The ongoing discriminatory trend in Chandigarh, despite it being the capital of Punjab. Even though IPS, IAS and other officers from the Punjab cadre are appointed, discrimination persistswithin their background too, he alleged.

The lack of justice for a state that has made significant contributions to the freedom of our entire nation. Peer Mohammad called upon Punjabis to transcend political interests and unite against such discrimination.

We appeal to the Chandigarh administration to reconsider its decision, ensuring equal opportunities for all. Discrimination, in any form, should never be tolerated in our diverse and democratic nation, he stated.
