RCED signs MoU with NASSCOM Foundation to skill youth in certification courses

CHANDIGARH: The Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), Chandigarh has been assigned to implement the ‘Google Career Certifications Scholarship Program’ through the NASSCOM Foundationh.

While talking to Paramjit Singh, Director principal, RCED, Chandigarh, revealed that the centre has signed an MoU with the NASSCOM Foundation to skill and provide employment opportunities to the youth. The Google has signed an MoU with the Government of India and the government signed with NASSCOM Foundation to provide skill improvement courses . The NASSCOM Foundation has joined hands with RCED to skill youth.

Mr Singh further revealed that it was 100 per cent scholarship career program would offer opportunities to the interested candidates to study any of the courses without paying any charge. The courses are—Data analytics professional; IT support professional certificate; IT automation with python professional; Project management professional and UX design professional certificates.

The Centre has been given a target of 11, 000 in these courses from North India by October this year. The candidates are expected to complete the chosen course in self-study mode in maximum of 12 weeks. “Technical assistance and special training on soft skils along with career mapping will also be provided by the RCED, ” said Mr Singh. After completing the training, the candidate would received two certificates—one from Coursera and the other will be issued by the NASSCOM Foundation.

On completion of the course, the RCED will provide placement and handholding support to all candidates. Candidates who are above 18 years with graduate or post-graduate in any stream/diploma in engineering/computer sciences/IT/final year students and having family income below Rs 8 lakh can enroll themselves through the link: https://forms.gle/EEYLOZUHdzAqAqpYn7 with orientation PPT for the courses. Paramjit Singh has founded the Centre in 1995 with an aim to train and develop entrepreneurial talent to enable them to stand up on their feet. Lone crusader in the beginning Paramjit now has a well-furnished office in Chandigarh and skilled an army of youth in various skills who have either been employed or set up their own small scale industries.

Having a number of awards to his credit, he says that new intiative would succeed in boosting the skills of youth and open doors of employment5 not only in the country but also abroad. The Centre is empanelled Udyami Mitra in various states. It is also engaged in evaluation studies and survey work for number of departments, central ministries and industry departments.
