Gaiety marks I-Day at Rayat Bahra University
MOHALI; The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Rayat Bahra University
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University, unfurled the National Flag. Speaking on the occasion, Bahra paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifices during the struggle for India’s independence. He called upon students to uphold the values of freedom, unity, integrity and responsible citizenship.
Prof (Dr) Sanjay Kumar, Group Vice-Chancellor in his address said that independence had not been achieved overnight but was the result of a prolonged struggle and countless sacrifices made by freedom fighters who were united by the common cause of freeing the country from colonial rule.
Senior functionaries of the university, including vice chairman Gurinder Singh Bahra, Vice-President Jassica Duggal Bahra and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) S.K. Bansal, besides senior faculty members, staff and students, were present on the occasion.
The celebrations featured a vibrant cultural programme presented by students, which received thunderous applause from the audience. Bhangra and giddha were among the highlights, with the campus reverberating with the beats of the dhol as students performed with enthusiasm. Patriotic songs presented by the students further added to the spirit of the occasion.
